It’s clear these three big-name Crystal Palace stars are leaving with Glasner

  • Oliver Glasner is leaving Crystal Palace
  • Three Eagles could follow him out the door
  • Who might replace the trio

Crystal Palace are preparing for arguably the most important summer in the club’s history. They will be signing players for a new manager following Oliver Glasner’s departure.

There are already several positions that require strengthening heading into the summer. But there might be further need for reinforcements given speculation growing over several first-team stars’ futures.

Glasner has created a winning team that could end his reign as UEFA Conference League winners. The Austrian might not be the only one who bids farewell to the Eagles in Leipzig.

Crystal Palace trio surely departing

Daichi Kamada has already decided to leave when, like Glasner, his contract expires in June. The Japanese midfielder has been sensational this season and will be a huge miss.

It’s become a recurring theme for Kamada to head for the exit door after around two years at a club. He joined the South London outfit in July 2024 and will become one again this summer.

Unfortunately, it looks increasingly likely that Adam Wharton will be making a big-money move to a European giant. The English midfielder has been linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Reports claim that Liverpool have already started discussions with Wharton’s camp. If the 22-year-old is sold, he’ll probably raise a club record transfer fee.

Jean-Philippe Mateta tried leaving Palace in January when he pushed for a switch to AC Milan. A £30m deal fell through when the French striker failed a medical, and the Italians pulled the plug.

The 28-year-old has since returned from a knee injury and reclaimed a starting berth in Glasner’s team. He will have a year left on his contract this summer, and Milan is thought to still be interested.

Who replaces them?

Palace have a knack for handling big-name exits, for example, Jaydee Canvot has been superb since Marc Guehi departed in January. The transfer chiefs will have to have similar success if the club do indeed lose Kamada, Wharton and Mateta.

The Eagles have been linked with Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney and he could be a strong contender to replace Wharton. The 23-year-old might not be as talented as his fellow countryman but he possesses impressive leadership qualities.

Another midfielder on Palace’s shortlist is Jordan James, who has spent the season on loan at Leicester City. The South Londoners are reportedly rivalling Everton for the Rennes youngster, whose energetic profile could help address the loss of Kamada.

AJ Auxerre frontman Lassine Sinayoko could be Mateta’s replacement. The club are reportedly interested in the Malian who has bagged 12 goals in 32 Ligue 1 games.
