- Crystal Palace vs Rayo Vallecano in Conference League final
- Eberechi Eze sends message to ex-teammates
- Arsenal star plays Champions League final on Saturday
Eberechi Eze is “trusting” his former Crystal Palace teammates to win the UEFA Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano tonight. The former Eagles star sent a message to the team ahead of their showdown with the Spanish club in Leipzig.
The 27-year-old left Palace for Arsenal in late August, thus missing out on the club’s Conference League campaign. He instead has helped the Gunners win the Premier League title and advance to the UEFA Champions League final.
There were no hard feelings about Eze leaving for the Emirates because he joined his boyhood team. Oliver Glasner even congratulated his former winger on winning the title and said he made the right decision turning down Tottenham Hotspur.
“God bless” – Eze message to Crystal Palace
Eze will be preparing for Arsenal’s Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday. Before that, he’ll probably be tuning in to tonight’s Conference League final and supporting Palace.
The England international urged his former teammates to win the trophy in a message that TNT Sports played to Glasner:
“Crystal Palace boys, I’m wishing you guys all the best. I’m praying you guys win, I know you’re going to win. You’ve worked so hard to get to this point, and you know what it takes in finals. I’m trusting you’re gonna do it, and god bless you, brothers.”
Glasner responded to the video by pointing out how Eze still remains attached to the club:
“Top yeah. Really appreciate Eb’s words and that he’s still aligned with the group. He has a little contribution that we are here… Makes me proud.”
Eze’s influence
Eze scored the winner in last season’s FA Cup final win over Manchester City, which granted Palace a place in Europe. The Eagles qualified for the Europa League, but UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules and Nottingham Forest’s presence meant the South Londoners were demoted to the Conference League.
Glasner’s side have the chance to win the competition and book their place in next season’s Europa League. To share the European spotlight just days before Eze plays the Champions League final feels predestined.
The English attacker has made a superb start at Arsenal, playing a key role in their title triumph. He’s appeared 51 times across competitions, posting 10 goals and six assists.
