- Dean Henderson earns a spot at the World Cup
- A busy summer for Palace players
- Adam Wharton narrowly misses out
Crystal Palace captain Dean Henderson has been called up to the England Squad ahead of the summer World Cup.
The 29-year-old was named this morning as one of Thomas Tuchel’s 26 man squad for the summer tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
England will kick-off their tournament on 17 June against Croatia before facing Ghana and Panama in the group stages.
The Three Lions will be hoping to end the 60 year wait for a major trophy, after making it to the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
Henderson joins Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Manchester City’s James Trafford as the three goalkeepers for Tuchel’s side.
Former Palace players Eberechi Eze and Marc Guéhi will also join the Palace captain in North America.
The “honour” of a World Cup call up
Henderson took to social media to write that the call up had been a “dream come true” with the “honour” of representing his country at the highest level.
This will be his first World Cup and follows his participation in the EURO24 team where England finished runners up, although he was unable to make any appearances.
Henderson last played for England in the World Cup qualifier against Albania in November 2025, keeping a clean sheet on his fourth England cap.
Palace fans will not be surprised with his call up, as frequent chants of “England’s Number 1” ring out across Selhurst Park.
A Major Tournament for Palace
A huge amount of the Palace squad have rightfully earned call ups to their national teams. Chris Richards and Walter Benítez are likely to be included for the US and Argentina.
