- Chloe Arthur and Indiah-Paige Riley to leave South London
- Other players could follow suit
Crystal Palace Women have confirmed that two of their promotion winning squad will be departing South London this summer.
Chloe Arthur and Indiah-Paige Riley have both announced their exit following the expiration of their contracts.
Riley joined on a two-year deal from PSV Eindhoven in 2024 for the Eagles first Women’s Super League campaign.
Arthur, one of Palace’s longest-serving players, joined in 2022 from Aston Villa and recently picked up the Professional Footballers’ Association Community Champion award for the second time for her work supporting Palace for Life.
Departing Duo Reflect on Palace Spells
Arthur has made 63 appearances in red and blue playing across defence and midfield scoring once and playing a vital role in the Eagles 23/24 promotion winning side.
The 31-year old wrote on social media that her time had been a “blast” with “memories to last a lifetime.”
She also wrote: “To the fans – you have stuck by us through everything and you’ll never know how important you are to the team and the club.“
Riley made 32 appearances across her two years in South London with three goals and a solid defensive performance. The New Zealand international has struggled to make the starting line up this season.
The 24-year old took to social media to announce her departure: “2 seasons have flown by and it has been filled with many highs & lows, but I have been so grateful to represent South London.
“Being at Palace has truly felt like a home away from home and I feel so lucky to have met such amazing people along the way!”
Difficult Summer Window Ahead
Palace face a tough summer window with other player’s contracts set to expire, and a huge intake of new talent necessary for the club to have a strong start in their return to the WSL in September.
The departure of Riley and Arthur was expected with both not regular starters for Jo Potter this season. Molly-Mae Sharpe resigning with the Eagles is, however, reassuring that Palace does have experienced players for the big challenge.
Potter will be hoping the club can build on this season’s success by expanding the squad further.
