  • 25/26 Season drawing to a close
  • Top contenders for Player of the Season
  • 2 League matches remain

Crystal Palace’s season will draw to an end after the UEFA Conference League final on 27 May, with the player of the season nominations now open.

Only two games remain in the Premier League, with the Eagles travelling to Brentford on Sunday and hosting Arsenal on the final day of the season.

Last season Daniel Munoz was crowned the fans’ player of the season. Fans can vote for their player of the season here, which closes after the Arsenal match.

Palace’s first season in Europe has been filled with ups and downs, with a number of stand-out players in contention for the award.

Sarr Tearing Apart the Conference League

Ismaila Sarr is a clear top contender for Palace’s player of the season, as the Eagles top goal scorer with 20 goals in red and blue this season.

Sarr has been an integral part of the attack, with some Palace fans online even joking he should be considered for the Ballon d’Or after winning AFCON earlier this year and the Community Shield in the summer.

In the Conference League the 28-year-old currently sits as the competitions top goalscorer with 9 goals ahead of the final on 27 May. The two goals scored against Shakhtar Donetsk were essential to securing Palace’s place in the final.

Mitchell’s Solid Defence

Often overlooked by fans and commentators, home-grown talent Tyrick Mitchell has put in a core shift in defence this season hitting 200 appearances in red and blue in March.

Mitchell has been involved in every Premier League match this season, with two assists and not forgetting his incredible volley at the London Stadium in September.

Hoping that Thomas Tuchel has been watching, the 26-year-old has out-performed in important matches, including scoring in the quarter-final home leg against Fiorentina.

Other stand out performances

While difficult to isolate players from such an incredible team this season performances from Maxence Lacroix, Jaydee Canvot and Dean Henderson have also stood out this season.

Filling the defensive leadership absence of Marc Guehi, Lacroix has coped incredibly under intense situations and truly embodies the spirit of the club. His performances earned a call up to the French World Cup Squad.

Canvot at only 19-years-old has settled in to become a regular starter for the Eagles, with fans often shocked at how such a young talent has been able to step up into the defensive role in such an intense league.

Taking on the role as captain, Henderson has connected with the fans on another level, truly embracing the passion of Palace. This season he’s put on world-class performances and saves to keep Palace’s defensive record strong.

matchday.
