Crystal Palace travel to the Gtech Community Stadium today (May 17th) and face Brentford in the penultimate game of their Premier League campaign. The Eagles won the reverse fixture 2-0 back in November.

Oliver Glasner has just three more games in charge as Palace boss before he departs in June. His main objective is to guide the South London outfit to UEFA Conference League glory later this month.

That doesn’t mean Glasner won’t want his side to finish the league campaign as strongly as possible. They face a London rival who are surprising everybody as they push for Europe.

Brentford vs Crystal Palace – team news

Crystal Palace will be without Eddie Nketiah (thigh) who has spent months on the sidelines. Borna Sosa is also likely to be unavailable, while Cheick Doucoure is still recovering from surgery and won’t play this campaign again.

The good news is that Evann Guessand is set to be fit and ready to make his first appearance since early April. The Ivorian will likely be rivalling Yeremy Pino for a starting berth in the UEFA Conference League final later this month.

As for Brentford, Keith Andrews has three players on the injury table. Fabio Carvalho (knee), Antoni Milambo (knee) and Rico Henry (thigh) will all be absent.

Prediction

This is a must-win for Brentford given their pursuit of European qualification. Palace arrive off the back of a 3-0 loss to Manchester City and it appears all of their focus is on a first-ever European final.

A cagey game might just end honours even if Glasner opts to field a strong side. Whether he does that remains to be seen.

Prediction: Brentford 2-2 Crystal Palace
