Palace fans want Townsend to be given a new contract

Many Crystal Palace fans want to see the club give Andros Townsend a new contract at the club.

The Englishman’s current deal with the Eagles expires in the summer of 2021 and the player himself has hinted that he wants a new deal.

As reported on The Mirror, Townsend joined Palace in the summer of 2016 for a fee of £13m.

The winger’s current contract sees him earning £55,000 on a weekly basis and after playing just 885 minutes in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt), the club seems hesitant to renew his deal now.

The 28-year-old missed multiple matches after picking up an injury in December but is now back and made a 13-minute appearance from the bench during the 1-0 defeat against Sheffield United earlier this month.

Townsend has been an unused substitute in the two matches after that and could be in line for a start against rivals Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend.

These fans on Twitter have made it clear that they want Townsend to be given a new deal.
