Parish confirms Palace will make summer move for Ferguson

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has revealed that the Premier League club is still interested in signing Nathan Ferguson, as reported on Sky Sports.

The West Bromwich Albion defender was on the verge of joining the Eagles on deadline day last month before an issue during his medical resulted in the move breaking down.

However, Parish has confirmed that Palace will look to sign him again at the end of the season.

As quoted on Sky Sports, he said:

We are still keen on that deal and we are confident that we can make that happen, we think an awful lot of the player.

We identified Nathan as the player we wanted, it took a long time to negotiate that deal through January.

We had gone in for him in the summer as well. We thought he was the right answer for us.

Ferguson is valuable because of his versatility, as he can operate as a centre-back and a full-back.

We believe that he could be the perfect addition to the Palace squad for that very reason, meaning he may provide manager Roy Hodgson with more defensive options on either flank.

Furthermore, since losing Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United, the Eagles have failed to find a long-term replacement but we feel that Ferguson could be the ideal man because tackling is one of his main strengths (WhoScored), just as it is for Wan-Bissaka.

The only slight concern we have regarding Ferguson is his fitness after undergoing surgery on his torn meniscus, but because he is still just 19 years of age, he has plenty of time to get himself recovered and back to his best.

matchday.
