Hodgson nominated for Manager of the Month

Roy Hodgson is among the nominees for the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award for December, as per Standard Sport.

The other nominees include Pep Guardiola, Sam Allardyce, Antonio Conte, Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp.

In December, the Eagles played eight Premier League games, and only lost one, the 3-2 thrilling loss to Arsenal. There were four draws and three wins also during the festive month.

Former Palace manager Sam Allardyce has managed all of his Everton games in December, losing one, drawing three and winning three of seven.

He also won in Apollon in the Europa League, a win in vain as the damage was already done in Europe.

Pep Guardiola, who has won this award already twice with Manchester City, won all but one of their eight games in December, as Roy Hodgson stopped Guardiola’s men for the first time on the road, and the first time at all since August.

Klopp’s Liverpool were undefeated in December, and had impressive wins by four goals or more against Brighton, Bournemouth and Swansea in this period, picking up 18 out of 24 possible points.

Tottenham picked up one defeat in six in December, to Manchester City, but won four, scoring 17 goals in the festive period.

Lastly, Conte’s Chelsea lost one of eight league games, while also cementing their place in the last 16 of the Champions League and the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.

Hodgson was the only manager nominated for this award who didn’t have a European match to play during December. This would be the first time that the former England man would’ve won this award. His nomination shows how good a job he has done, fighting with the managers at the top of the table.
