Wilfried Zaha won’t be fit to face Chelsea

Crystal Palace have been dealt another huge blow as it has been revealed that star man Wilfried Zaha will have to wait even longer for his comeback from injury, which has already kept him out of eight games this season.

The latest news on the Ivorian international is that he will not be fit to face Chelsea after the international break, despite there having been hope last week that he may even have featured on the bench in what turned out to be a 4-0 loss at the hands of Manchester United.

According to the Daily Mail, the Abidjan-born winger is making progress in his recovery from a knee injury, but the Eagles staff do not believe that he will be ready in time to face Chelsea when they come to Selhurst Park in just under two weeks.

It is a blow of seismic proportions for Roy Hodgson, who is yet to see his side earn even a point after taking over from Frank de Boer, who was sacked after just four games in charge of the club.

Palace are without a single goal so far in the Premier League and are therefore rock bottom on zero points — and are now missing a number of key men, too.

Christian Benteke has recently been ruled out for up to six weeks, whilst the news that Zaha’s is unlikely to be ready to face Chelsea is worsened by the fact that Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be ineligible to play in that game, since the Blues are his parent club; meaning that Hodgson is without three of his key men for the game.
