Crystal Palace Player Ratings: Ipswich (H)

Crystal Palace put in a dominant second half display to defeat Ipswich Town 2-1 in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

The home side made seven changes to the side who faced Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday.

Club legend, Julian Speroni made his first start of the season between the sticks with Martin Kelly and Jeffrey Schlupp replacing Timothy Fosu-Mensah and James Tomkins in defence.

James McArthur, Yohan Cabaye were drafted into central midfield while youngsters Sullay Kaikai and Jason Lokilo were given an opportunity to impress in front of the Selhurst faithful.

Ipswich also fielded a weakened side after Mick McCarthy made 11 changes to the team that have so far enjoyed an unbeaten start in the league.

After a poor first half, the second half burst into life with Crystal Palace piling on the pressure after switching to a back four.

McArthur opened the scoring in the 76th minute with a fantastic placed shot which curled past Dean Gerken.

The Scot added a second six minutes from time with an equally exquisite finish from inside the box.

The Tractor Boys pulled one back in stoppage time from a well-placed shot from Bersant Celina.

This was Palace’s first win of the season and here’s how the players performed:
