Wilfried Zaha signs new five-year contract

Without a shadow of a doubt, Wilfried Zaha was Crystal Palace’s best player during the 2016/17 season.

When the Eagles needed a man to dig them out of a hole and take the game by the scruff of the neck, Zaha was the man who stepped up – and he’ll keep doing so for the next five years.

The club have announced that the winger has put pen to paper on a new five-year contract which runs until the summer of 2022.

Zaha enjoyed the best season of his professional career in 2016/17, netting seven goals and providing 11 assists in 35 Premier League appearances.

He had caught the eye of Tottenham who tried and failed to sign the winger in January for a reported £25m but having signed a new long-term deal, it looks increasingly likely that he’ll remain at Selhurst Park for the foreseeable future.
