Crystal Palace enter race to sign Daniel Sturridge

Once seen as one of the Premier League’s top strikers and indispensable by Liverpool, Daniel Sturridge hasn’t really kicked on from that fabulous 2013/14 campaign.

Injuries, poor form and a change of managers have seen Sturridge gone from the first name on the team sheet to an after thought and he’s poised to leave the Reds at the end of the season.

According to the Croydon Advertiser, who cite Calciomercato, Crystal Palace are ready to rival West Ham and Paris Saint-Germain for the signing of the England international striker in the summer.

Sturridge would be the second striker in two seasons to complete a move from Liverpool to Crystal Palace in as many seasons following Christian Benteke who joined the Eagles last summer in a club-record £30m deal.

It’s understood that Liverpool would be looking for offers in the region of £25m for the 27-year-old who has fallen behind Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi in the pecking order at Anfield.

Should Palace stave off relegation, they would be in the market for a new forward given the lack of alternatives to Benteke and Sturridge could be a big-ticket signing fans can get behind.
