Yohan Cabaye: Top 5 goals

Earlier this summer, Alan Pardew broke the Eagles transfer record to bring in French international and former Newcastle star-man Yohan Cabaye. PSG were willing to let him go with Marco Verratti rapidly becoming one of the world’s finest midfielders and Adrien Rabiot biting at the ankles of the first team in the French capital.

He’s an exciting signing for Palace and is sure to bring a lot to the midfield. He’s obviously had plenty of Premier League experience in the past so should slot straight into the midfield and hopefully hit the ground running. Here’s a look at what could be to come from the Frenchman.

5) vs Stoke City

Not the only free-kick in this top 5, Cabaye’s exceptional accuracy in striking the ball is one f his strongest attributes – expect most of his goals this season to come from outside the opposition’s 18-yard box.

4) vs Liverpool

Showing what he can do inside the box, Cabaye’s control here sets him up beautifully for another worldie of a strike from a difficult angle

3) vs Lens

This one coming from his time in Ligue 1,  it’s a carbon copy of a few of his Premier League goals – latching onto the ball with a late run and slotting the ball home in a cool manner from distance. His calmness is almost ridiculous – he makes scoring a screamer look very easy.

2) vs Liverpool

Another strike against Liverpool, another absolutely stunning finish. The Frenchman certainly knows where the back of the net is! Cabaye’s vision is a great quality and bodes well for Pardew and his men, especially with Zaha and Bolasie to ping balls to down the flanks.

1) vs Manchester United

Anders Lindegaard was absolutely powerless to this effort, despite what looks like a very good dive – Yohan out-foxed him here, placing the ball right in the ‘postage stamp’ with my pick of the lot. What a free-kick!

matchday.
