Pardew Chasing Marseille Defender

According to reports Palace are stepping up the chase for Marseille defender Rod Fanni. Back in January it was Liverpool who were favourites to sign the 33 year old but it now appears it is Palace who are most likely to make a move. It is believed the Anfield club remain interested but Fanni is eyeing a move to London.

The Frenchman has represented his country 5 times but struggled to break into the national team and often found himself on the bench. He has made over 300 appearances in the French Ligue 1 with clubs such as Nice and Rennes. Fannis’s is set to expire this summer so a move to sign the defender would be relativity stress free. It is reported that Fanni would be keen to stay at his current club if they were to offer him a new deal but no discussions have started between him and the club. The former Lens player has been known to play either in central defence or at right back and has been named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year twice.

The veteran stopper has enjoyed a excellent campaign in Ligue 1 this season under Argentine Marcelo Bielsa and managed to rediscover his form to deliver a series of commanding displays in the Marseille back 4.
